How your Gate was made
Hand Crafted - High Quality Timber Gates.

Fountain Timber are recognised as one of the UK's leading manufacturers of timber gates. Our gates are hand crafted from carefully selected treated timber. Many of our customers don't realise that each of our gates are unique, although every individual component is shaped and finished by skilled craftsman this is only the first step in the process.

Our gates are 'hand crafted', which means that one person takes responsibility for assembling the components to produce the gate.

During assembly each timber component may need further shaping or planing, often making very slight adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.

Other gate manufacturers produce gates on a production line where no individual is responsible for the finished product, we take a more traditional approach where one person can take pride in the finished product.

It's that attention to detail that results in 'high quality' durable gates which will last for years.

Take a few moments to study the presentation on this page which explains the steps we take in producing 'great value, high quality' gates.

Custom Made
Although we offer a wide range of styles and sizes, many of our customers ask us to produce gates to their own measurements.  If you require further details please call us on 01934 862710.

The frame is then measured to ensure that it is absolutely square.

Each of the joints are then secured by using special treated steel dowels.

The frame is further strenthened by adding brace supports.
picture Brace Supports are Jointed
The brace supports are fixed by cutting inserts into both sides of the joint which take a biscuit shaped hardwood dowel and are then screwed into place.
picture Hand Finishing the Frame
When all the joints have been completed the frame is hand finished.

The completed frame is rebated so that the tongue and groove boards can be inset into the frame adding further strength and weather protection.
