The benefits of a made-to-measure gate
The key advantage is fit. Rather than working around a fixed size and packing out the gaps, a bespoke gate is cut to the exact width and height of your opening; an accuracy which makes for a cleaner finish, an easier installation, and a gate that sits square in its frame.
Each bespoke gate is handmade and finished to withstand constant use and changing seasons. For wider or heavier gates, that build quality is where a made-to-measure gate really earns its value, as you will see in the driveway range below.

Bespoke gates for entrances and driveways
For property driveways, the Entrance Gate is a pressure-treated softwood gate in a traditional country style, suitable for both homes and commercial premises. If you are after something more premium, the Hardwood Entrance Gate stands 1.5m high with a hockey stick end post and is made to measure in selected hardwood for a refined, long-lasting finish.
For driveways, we offer six made-to-order designs, all built to the same upgraded specification. Wider gates carry reinforced bracing on spans up to a 2.4m leaf, flat-top designs gain extra top braces to resist twisting, the joints use metal star dowels for added strength and easier hinge fitting, the boards run through to the bottom to shed water, and stainless steel fastenings hold everything together for the long term.
The six driveway designs give you a range of styles and finishes. The Banff has an open slatted top and suits both traditional and modern properties, while the Arbroath offers a similar feel with a curved slatted top. The Aberdeen and Stirling are built for privacy and character, available in treated softwood or selected hardwood, and the Edinburgh and Perth are classic made-to-order designs ready to be sized to your entrance. Every one can be built to your exact needs.

Measuring and planning before you enquire
Taking careful measurements before your enquiry makes for a smoother quote and a better fit. Measure the width of your opening in three places, at the top, the middle and the bottom, and work from the smallest figure, as openings are rarely perfectly square. Decide whether you want a single gate or a pair, and if you are fitting new gate posts, set them first so you can accurately measure the gap between them.
For a full walkthrough of measuring, overlaps, posts and gate hinges, our two companion guides provide plenty of detail: selecting your country style gate and selecting your driveway gate. Both are worth a read before you start.
